With the Winter Solstice approaching quickly, I would like to take the opportunity to wish all my friends, followers, and gentle readers of this web log a peaceful solstice time and a happy and prosperous year 2014.
So the shortest day came, and the year died,
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive,
And when the new year’s sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us – Listen!!
All the long echoes sing the same delight,
This shortest day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, fest, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
Welcome Yule!

Thank you very much for your good wishes, and the same to you and your’s, of course 🙂
Where on earth did you find this fine quote from one of my favourite authors, Peter?
It is available on the net, for example here on Wikiquote: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Yule
cheers, Peter.
You’re very welcome and, once again, all the best to you and yours 🙂

12th month – 14
What year has this been?
Soft rounds, pregnant clouds, emerging snow
as crepuscular iridescent glow descends.
Below, glistening greeting stars adorn
guardian trees, cozy chimneyed homes.
Thoughts of feasts, merry meets, gift of returning friends.
Familiar songs evoking peace, belonging, generous amends.
