Jupiter conjunct Caput Draconis (2 June 2023)

On 2 June 2023, Jupiter will perfect a conjunction with Caput Draconis, the North Lunar Node. Generally speaking, this is a very beneficial aspect between the Greater Benefic Jupiter, and the Dragon’s Head. (The North Lunar Node is one of the two points where the Moon’s orbital path crosses the ecliptic).

This conjunction will not re-occur until November 2030. The fact that Jupiter and the North Lunar Node are currently in Taurus, which is ruled by Venus, also known the Lesser Benefic, makes this conjunction particularly beneficial. Generally speaking, we can expect incentives and opportunities for mundane, as well as spiritual growth.

Traditionally, astrologers have long been aware of the positive influence of Caput Draconis and also this conjunction. The 10th Century astrologer al-Qabisi (since medieval times also known by his latinised name of Alchabitius) wrote in his Introduction to Astrology:

“… The Head of the Dragon is male, and it is likewise a fortune and its nature is composed of the nature of Jupiter and Venus. And this signifies a kingdom and fortune and assets. And certain people said that its nature is increased: that if it were with fortunes, it increases their fortune …” (Dykes, Introduction to Traditional Astrology, p267)

This being a very beneficial mundane aspect, we can assume that the quality of the days ahead and after the conjunction will be positive. On a personal level, people with their Ascendant, midheaven, or natal planets tightly aspecting this conjunction can expect significant personal growth, success, or other potential benefits, according to the conjunction’s natal house placement.

Famous people with Jupiter conjunct Caput Draconis are Christopher Lee, Sharon Stone, Kate Bush, and Madonna (pictured below).

  1. This seems to correspond to a potential breakthrough in budget talks between the U.S. House of Representatives, headed by speaker Kevin McCarthy, and the Biden administration. If the GOP succeeds in reaching an agreement, it would be the first time the government has reduced deficit spending in nearly 25 years. The focus on saving and fiscal restraint accords with Jupiterian legislation in the sign of conserving (Taurus). Jupiter’s conjunction with the north lunar node suggests that proper care of the people requires just such restraint.

  2. On Saturday morning, May 27, Jupiter and the North Lunar Node were exactly conjunct at 2 degrees 26 minutes Taurus. By Saturday night, the NY Post confirmed that President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had struck a tentative deal to raise the debt ceiling, leaving only congressional approval to avoid a catastrophic US default. The deal would halt federal spending flat for 2024 and increase it by only 1% for 2025.

McCarthy said: “it has historic reductions in spending, consequential reforms that will lift people out of poverty into the workforce, rein in government overreach, there are no new taxes [and] no new government programs.” Of course, this is but one of many events that reflect Jupiter’s conjunction with the North Lunar Node in Taurus, but it is certainly notable.

      • Yes, I do mean the mean node! 🙂 I thought it significant that you posted your announcement precisely as the conjunction was occurring with the mean node.
