Lunar Eclipse 4 June 2012

On 4 June 2012, there will be a partial lunar eclipse. The Moon will be in 14*13’ Sagittarius, opposing the Sun in 14*13’ Gemini. The eclipsed Moon and the Sun will be forming a square to Mars in Virgo and to the Arabic Part of Fortune in Pisces. Furthermore, retrograde Venus will be combust.

The chart below, cast for Brussels, shows the event.

William Lilly reminds us in his pamphlet on the judgment of the effects of solar and lunar eclipses:

“For when the place Eclipsed, or Eclipse itself, shall be in the Ascendant, the effects shall then begin in the 1, 2, 3, and 4. moneth next after the appearance of the Eclips, …

A look at the map showing the path of angularity of the eclipse shows that the Moon is on the Ascendant during the eclipse in Hong Kong and Singapore. This means that an immediate effect of the eclipse may be expected in China and Malaysia.

To find out about the possible effects of this eclipse, let us have a look at what William Lilly has to say in his Annus Tenebrosus, or The Dark Year:

“Diseases rage against and amongst Horses, Mules, &c. the Seas troubled by Pyrats.”

Looking at the map of Europe, we can see the following picture emerging:

Here Mars of the eclipse chart is conjunct the Ascendent throughout Germany and Italy and is touching France and Norway. Mars, the lesser malefic is squaring the Sun/Moon axis, which indicates that these countries will be affected by the eclipse. This can be interpreted as a pointer towards the ongoing deepening of the eurozone crisis. It may as well be worth noting that London is not afflicted, making room for speculations that there may be a further distancing between Britain and the member states of the EU.

For readers, interested in the personal implications of this eclipse, it might be of interest what William Lilly has to say:

“… Eclipse is more dangerous or pernitious which shall be in the Horoscope or Ascendant of the birth; or which shall be in the degree Ascending in an Annuall Revolution: it portends unto the Native some ominous and mischievous action as unto his body and also in his vital substance.”

And further on:

“… who had in the Radix of his Nativity either the Sun or the Moon in that degree, or in the degree opposite … or in the like degrees … which signs are in Quadrate aspects to the former, or if the degree Culminating in any man’s Nativity was either [the degree of the eclipse or its opposite or square] or within one degree therof, the native did suffer more or less by the influence of this Eclips; according to the signification of the House of Heaven, wherein the Sun or the Moon was in at the Birth, and was either well fortified or aspected of the benevolent Planets, or ill aspected, or afflicted of the Malevolents.”

For this particular lunar eclipse that means that people with Sagittarius rising, either in their birth chart or in their Solar return chart for 2012, will feel the influence stronger than others. Furthermore it should be noted if natal Sun or Moon are conjunct the eclipse point. If it should be the case that one or even more of these factors apply, an in depth reading of the native’s charts may be necessary to find out which particular areas of life are likely to be affected the most.

  1. Hey Peter, if I understood this posting right i”m in trouble eh? June 1st is my 31st birthday. My sun and moon sign is Gemini with ascendant Scorpio. Any possible advice r should I just buy a bunker now? Eh, in all seriousness if anything immediately sticks out I’d appreciate it as I’m still kinda learning and jumping on the bandwagon here.

    Thank you very much,
    Xavier

  2. Great article, I’m a bit concerned about my brother, who’s sun is at 14degrees Sagittarius and has moon in sag too!

  3. Hi Peter,

Since 2009 I am have been under a set of dramatic changes and only last year I understood why. I am a Sag with rising Sag and moon in virgo.

2007-2009 where terrible years full of restrictions and obstacles. For some reason virgo is very present in my natal chart.

I also know I have venus in Scorpio, which again isn’t great.

Do you know what sort of influence this eclipse and the May eclipse will have on me?

I was born on 20 Dec 1978 in Lisbon, PT

  4. Hi Peter,

I enjoy your look at the world stage in relation to astrology, as well as how those aspects might affect the individual. My husband has his sun and his ascendant in Saggitarius, located in Baltimore, Maryland. Since these series of eclipses seem to deal with partnerships, and the May solar eclipse seems favorable, what can he expect from the lunar eclipse in June?

  5. Hi Peter,

Thanks for the interesting post. The chart you used above is pretty spooky as ny R/A is 16 degrees Virgo and I’m certainly concerned as I have Sagittarius Moon in my natal at 10 degrees in the 4th house. I was going to travel but I’m not so sure now. What do you think?

  6. Hi Peter, I have a birthday on June 4 1980, so how will this eclipse affect me? I have been through a rough phase since 2008!

  7. Would we “switch up” the eclipse for where we currently reside? For example where I live the eclipse occurs giving a Gemini 23* 53′ rising. So Mercury in Mars bounds with Trigon Lord Saturn but Mercury RIGHT on the event chart rising at Gemini 23*52′.

I am in a Venus ruled year using Hellenistic astrology. My final depositor for my natal chart is Mercury in Virgo in Saturn’s bounds for a nocturnal chart in my natal 7th house. Yes Mars has been in Virgo long enough. lol

I am happy to have stumbled across your site today. What was the reason for using Brussels for the event chart? Is that considered some sort of epicenter for this lunar eclipse? (Always wanting to learn more)

    • Yes, to establish the personal implications, you would have to erect the eclipse chart for your location.
Brussels was chosen because it represents Europe, just as Washington would represent the USA or London represents Great Britain.

  8. OMG, this is enough to cause some extreme anxiety! I have Sag Rising (born 3/19/1957, 1:05am, Bristol, TN) and a close friend of mine has the Moon at Sag 13′ 49 in 8th house (born 12/18/1968, 1:14pm Ogden, UT). It sounds as if hiding under covers won’t help. What say you?

  16. Hi Peter,
my natal sun is 13.5 Sag and my Mars is 14 degrees virgo….sun in the 7th, mars in the 5th….mars is conjunct uranus and pluto (pluto is 16 degrees virgo). my ascendant is 29.3 degrees taurus. I’m a tad concerned about this. Could you give me an idea of what I could expect to experience. thank you!

  17. I should have mentioned…. I just had a jupiter return and it is I believe conjunct my ascendant soon….if not already.

  18. Well I have an interesting 11th house Sag Mars for this eclipse and a 12th house Moon. Am I gonna join the circus? I’m ready for some nonconformist work.

  19. Could it be a positive eclipse? I am sun sag and rising in sag and I plan to graduate on June 5th. Had a really tough time last summer with all the eclipses, my life changed for good, but the way things are going now it seems like it’s gonna be a positive one. Can that be?

  20. Hello Peter, I am born on 7 Feb.1985, 13:00 ( Sofia Bulgaria) , since April 2011 my life in terms of personal relationship went quite into a negative territory. If I remember correctly the first relationship in my life appeared in 2004 as Venus was retrograde in Gemini , 8 years still unlucky in relationship , is this going to change with the current retrograde motions ? Is there some change expected?

  21. Another Sag Sun here. Mine sits at 13’57 in the 5th house. A little concerned. Eclipses are still kind of fuzzy to me, although I know they are significant. Eek!

  22. Hi Peter
I’ve been looking forward to this eclipse and the Transit of Venus – sink or swim I might at least know where life is heading. I have a stellium of Gemini in my 8th house, uranus 8, moon 12 and mars 13. Mars in Virgo is transiting my 11th and my progressed sun is in Sag 3 progressed mercury in Sag 12. My natal Saturn is Gemini 26 in the 9th house. I know this is only a tiny piece of my chart but I’m hoping change is on the way.

    Regards

    Lana

    Best Wishes,

    Mick.

  25. Hi Peter, I just read your Article. It’s very informative. I need your advise.
    I have a birthday on July 11, 1982.
I am female having Cancer as Sun Sign & Aquarius as Moon Sign. I live in Singapore currently.
, so how will this eclipse affect me?
I have been through a rough phase since 2008! Can you please help me in this?

  26. Hello Peter,

I have a birthday (57, born 1955) on 5 June. My initials are WVW 5×5’s in Roman numerology. WVW adds to 14 (5). I am a Gemini and their lucky number is ‘5’. Mercury resonates to ‘5’. And there are a few more.

The Venus transit on Wednesday is interesting as it happens twice in 8 years. The last one happened when I was in the spiritual community of Findhorn in Scotland.

Interesting things happening right now in my life. I feel the wheels are turning again after these 8 years.

Do you have any insights and /or comments?

    Thanks

    William
